Dark ruby-garnet, violet reflections, delicate brightening on the rim. Seductive nose of dark fruit, ripe plums, black cherries, blueberries and blackberries, as well as poppy seeds, subtly spicy, a hint of pepper, dried tomatoes, and black olives. Elegant roasted aromas with subtle chocolate-vanilla notes and a hint of caramel. Rich and dense, with a salty character, yet juicy and full-bodied, finely melting, supple with powerful yet velvety-soft tannins and an invigorating arc of acidity. Mineral, long-lasting finish with a nobly bitter nougat note and a hint of mocha on the finish. Subtle herbal spice in the aftertaste. A powerful cuvée with depth and sure aging potential. Only reveals its full aroma with aeration or initial maturity. Its drinking window, depending on taste, is between five and ten years or more.

In 1987, the Pfneisl brothers jointly purchased the former Kleinmutschen estate. According to the locals of the village 15km away, who spoke of acquiring the "Hexenberg" (Witch's Mountain), there was a legend that "This mountain is bewitched". This was attributed to the fact that in earlier times, horses could easily work the plateau of the hill, whereas even the strongest horse in the entire area could not conquer the soil of the slope. Today, we know that the extremely heavy clay soil of the slope and the comparatively light, stony surface of the plateau were responsible for this. In viticulture, we were able to make optimal use of this terroir. The heavy clay soil is suitable for first-class Merlot or Blaufränkisch, and the hot plateau is ideal for sun-loving varieties such as Shiraz or Cabernet, which benefit at night from the heat radiating from the warmed stones.

A great companion for your Christmas menu and/or game dishes.
