Sustainability
Out of deep conviction, I want to take responsibility not only as an individual but also as an entrepreneur.
This includes an economic approach in harmony with and out of respect for nature, the conservation of resources, but also fair social, societal and cultural cooperation.
The focus is on healthy and vital vineyards, which we cultivate without insecticides or herbicides. By spreading our own compost, we ensure an optimal supply of nutrients. Promoting biodiversity is also particularly important to me; here, each vineyard has its own carefully considered concept. What all of them have in common is permanent green cover, which protects against erosion and provides a habitat for many beneficial insects that we do not want to disturb. Our young vineyards are planted with flowering biodiversity mixtures, which are valuable as food for beneficial insects and, as biomass, help build up humus. In addition, more than a dozen fruit trees have been planted in recent years.
Gentle winemaking, the well-being of our employees and our commitment to selected clubs and organisations are also part of our philosophy. The same goes for the ecological balance in terms of energy generation: we obtain the energy for e-mobility from our photovoltaic system, which also allows us to cool our storage facilities with self-generated solar power. In winter, too, we rely on renewable energy, in this case in the form of our own wood chips.
Out of conviction, we follow this holistic concept, which never stops evolving, and as one of the first wineries we have held the "Sustainably Produced Wine" certificate since the 2015 vintage.
