Our Cabernet Franc vines, among the oldest in Austria, grow on a small vineyard plot in the Weißes Kreuz site.

This Cabernet Franc displays a dark ruby-garnet color with delicate rim brightening, and after 30 months of aging in barriques, it is fruit-driven with captivating spice on both the nose and palate. Blackcurrants and herbs, a hint of dill, a touch of chocolate and licorice, but also delicately reminiscent of violets and poppy. Wonderfully balanced with fine, ripe tannins. Opulent yet very elegant due to its fresh acidity structure with good length. This is how this "Black Edition" of the Offspring series presents itself.

A ring adorns the label, symbolising on the one hand perfection and harmony in taste, and on the other hand the cycle of life and the joy of accepting and continuing the gift of family heritage (after all, this was also Lisa and Berni's wedding wine).

While OFFPSPRING by Pfneisl wines are usually encased in eco-paper with a stylish design, the limited Offspring Black demands something more elegant: Because its story is the most reminiscent of family tradition, the special edition is traditionally wrapped in black tissue paper, just like in grandpa's day. And even if the color of the wine (typical for the variety) is not quite as black as its wrapping, its elegance and profoundness are certainly the same.

The Offspring Black Edition began with the 2011 vintage, followed by 2013, and was a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Deutschkreutz vineyard "Hochbaum", which was planted in Lisa Pfneisl's birth year 1991.

Papa Gerhard gave the first edition 2011 to his daughter as a gift of four barrels for her 25th birthday. It became the fourth Wrapped Wine in the OFFSPRING by Pfneisl series.

With the third edition from the 2018 vintage, the Offspring Black Edition is for the first time a Cabernet Franc. A very small vineyard in the Deutschkreutz site "Hölzl", which by coincidence was also planted in Lisa's birth year. The fourth edition from the 2019 vintage followed its predecessor as a single-varietal Cabernet Franc and has recently become available.

Our Charity Wine:

Grateful for this magnificent gift, Lisa also wanted to do her part and supported charitable organizations with a total of € 12,500.00, by donating 10% per bottle sold of OFFSPRING Cabernet Sauvignon.
