Vibrant ruby garnet with a dark core and delicate brightening at the rim. Intense aromatic interplay of ripe blackcurrants and blueberries, along with lean sour cherry fruit, herbal spice, and liquorice. Also, noble lead pencil interwoven with delicate, fine bitter chocolate. Full-bodied, powerful, finely meshed, and rich, yet multifaceted with a fine melt, this complex red wine only reveals its diverse bouquet with some aeration. Rigorous density, fine balsamic notes, and velvety tannin interplay. Elegant noble wood notes, perfectly integrated, pleasant acidity structure, and a mineral finish, underlaid with dark berry confit, that seems endless. An opulent red wine cuvée with sure aging potential, which will first become apparent in about 10 years. Aging potential: > 15 years.
EGO sum vitis vos palmites, Giov. 15 (1-11) from Latin for "I am the vine, you are the branches." The limited top cuvée from Pfneisl was first vinified in 1999. Following the subsequent vintages of 2015 and 2017, 2018 now represents its fourth edition. A profound wine with much emotion and history. Vinified for special occasions, for special occasions.
